Angela Kuefler
Partner, Research
Global Strategy Group

Angie’s strategic consulting began in Kindergarten, when she tried to tell two boys how to stack all the blocks in the bucket so the cover would fit. Rather than appreciate her efficiency, they told her to stop being so bossy. Luckily, she didn’t listen, and has since advised campaigns, corporations, and issue advocacy groups on how on to make all the pieces fit to reach their goals.
Angie takes a holistic approach to research under the belief that you can’t win an election, solve a problem, or build market share unless you fully understand it. Her favorite research questions are not those about what people believe, but why?
She has done extensive political research for local, state, and federal candidates and independent expenditures throughout the country. Her current political clients include Congresswomen Abigail Spanberger, Mikie Sherrill, and Ann Kirkpatrick. In 2018, she also led independent expenditure polling for Governor Laura Kelly, Stacy Abrams, and Congresswoman Lucy McBath.
In her corporate work, Angela has polled and led focus groups for clients on branding strategy, building a positive corporate reputation, tracking the effectiveness of communications, and extensively testing advertising.
Kuefler is also one of the country’s leading researchers on gun violence prevention and abortion rights. On gun violence prevention, Kuefler has led countless studies on the issue for over a decade, and her work on persuading Republican voters to change their minds about guns was recently cited in the New York Times. On abortion, Kuefler has led research for successful ballot initiative fights in Colorado, Kentucky and the Kansas ballot initiative that protected abortion rights; one of the most critical wins of the year.
Additionally, she has focused much of her work on expanding educational opportunity to all students in both K-12 and higher education, having conducted significant research for Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation and Third Way as part of their education initiatives.
When not working, Angie can be found practicing her French at wine shops, installing shelves in every nook and corner to accommodate her ever-expanding shoe collection, and rooting for her much-loved Minnesota Vikings…who bring her nothing but heartache.

Andrew Baumann
Partner, Research
Global Strategy Group

Named one of the “winners” of the 2022 elections in Colorado and praised by the media for his “remarkably accurate” polling, Andrew Baumann began his career as a physicist before deciding to give up supercolliders for Senate campaigns. Since becoming a strategist and pollster nearly two decades ago, he has provided research and strategic advice to political campaigns, issue advocacy organizations, unions, and foundations.
Over the past decade and a half, Andrew has helped elect or re-elect Senators John Hickenlooper, Michael Bennet, Jacky Rosen, Catherine Cortez Masto, Gary Peters, Debbie Stabenow, Tammy Baldwin, and Tom Udall, while also playing a significant role in helping move Colorado and Nevada in a decidedly blue direction.
In 2024, despite the partisan headwinds, Andrew helped guide Democrats to victory in four of his five Frontline races: Senator Jacky Rosen (NV), Congressman Gabe Vasquez (NM-02), Congresswoman-elect Kristen McDonald Rivet, and Congresswoman Hilary Scholten (MI-03). The first three being victories in states/districts that Trump won.
In 2022, He also provided polling and strategic guidance for three tough Democratic pick-ups: Wiley Nickel (NC-13), Yadira Caraveo (CO-08), and Gabe Vasquez (NM-02), while also helping Democrats flip the Michigan Senate for the first time in nearly 40 years.
In addition to his political work, Andrew has also polled for numerous advocacy groups with a particular focus on climate, clean energy and conservation issues, having worked with LCV, Environmental Defense Fund, Climate Power, the Sierra Club, and many others. His work in 2020 was instrumental in helping convince Joe Biden to make climate a centerpiece of his campaign and embrace a more ambitious climate plan.
Andrew also served as pollster and strategist for the National Education Association for over a decade, working with NEA and its affiliates in Virginia, Colorado, and Michigan on a range of issues, but with a particular focus on helping the union understand how to recruit and retain more members.
With degrees in Physics and Engineering from MIT and Stanford, Andrew also has extensive experience working with data scientists to develop new methodologies and implement innovative analytical data solutions for clients.
Andrew runs GSG’s Mountain West office in Denver, where he lives with his wife and twin boys.
“Andrew is one of the sharpest and hardest-working people I’ve ever worked with. I bring in Andrew to work on our most challenging issues because he doesn’t stop until he uncovers the best possible strategic approach. His unique combination of intelligence, critical thinking, creativity, and sheer grit allow him to find things in data that most pollsters would miss. I came to Andrew years ago with what we considered to be an impossible challenge. Years later, Andrew’s analysis remains one of our most frequently cited pieces of research because it led to strategic insights that extended far beyond that one issue. He brings that same work ethic, experience, expertise, and creativity to every project.” – Erica Seifert, Senor Research and Communication Strategist, National Education Association
